Grain of digital noise.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The invisible umbilical cord of our shared sleep.<\/td><td>The taut nerve of an encrypted frequency.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The child&#8217;s heavy head presses on my forearm &#8211;<\/td><td>my only proof of earthly gravity.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>A plastic bird cuts the wind at thousands of metres &#8211;<\/td><td>precise calculation of the impact point.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>A hand carefully adjusts the swaddle.<\/td><td>A finger lingers over the release button.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I have learned every curve of this fragile body.<\/td><td>Every second to impact has been calculated.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The whisper of a lullaby extinguishes night terrors.<\/td><td>The emptiness of ether where a stranger&#8217;s scream once was.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Here I hold the world together so it does not fall apart.<\/td><td>There I return shadows back into the earth.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Eyes count every eyelash in the half-dark.<\/td><td>Sight catches the glowing silhouette of the target.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I listen to the rhythm of kindred breathing.<\/td><td>Countdown to the flash.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I draw the perimeter of soft silence.<\/td><td>The route of inevitability has already been plotted.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Nearby it smells of vanilla and baby hair.<\/td><td>Beneath my eyelids a stranger&#8217;s thermal signature still smoulders.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rear Front Pulsation of the fontanelle beneath thin skin.
